Thank you – to over 50,000 followers!

20,000 on Instagram, 13,000 on Mastodon, 11,000 on LinkedIn and 6,000 on Bluesky: Together, we form a community of over 30,000 people who are campaigning for better climate coverage. A big thank you – and an invitation to make our voices heard even louder together.

Whether it’s a Reel, a Carousel post or a LinkedIn analysis: behind every post by KLIMA° vor acht lies voluntary work – and she is the one behind every click, like and comment. It’s time to pause for a moment and say thank you.

Thank you for your trust

You follow us because you know that the climate crisis belongs on television during prime time – not in the late-night slot. As a not-for-profit organisation run by volunteers, we cannot take this trust for granted. Every follower is proof that our cause is resonating and is needed. Thank you for joining us on this journey.

Our reach today – and what makes it possible

At present, we are achieving:

  • 20,000 followers on Instagram – our main channel for Reels, behind-the-scenes content and quick facts on climate coverage
  • 13,000 followers on Mastodon – our results in advertisement free fediverse, the space of science and indepenaent journalism
  • 11,000 followers on LinkedIn – this is where we discuss the state of climate journalism with media professionals, academics and decision-makers
  • 6,000 followers on Bluesky – threads and discussions on our daily analyses, in the middle of the climate journalism community

Altogether, that’s over 50,000 people who feature our content on their timelines. That’s reach that we don’t have to pay for, but which is given to us – post by post, share by share.

The formats in which we make studies and programme analyses accessible have consistently been particularly well received by you. Take, for example, our summary of the 3‑degree warming pathway, which is likely to materialise as early as 2050 rather than 2100. This post racked up around 190,000 views! When we announced the conclusion of our sponsorship campaign in December, the response was also huge – an incentive for us to keep working on high-quality, well-presented content.

Here’s how you can help us reach an even wider audience

Reach is a key factor in determining whether climate coverage will finally become a priority for public-service broadcasting. So, if you care about what we do, there are three simple ways you can help us.

1. Become a follower – across all channels. The wider our reach, the more seriously editorial teams and programme decision-makers take us. Follow us on Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook – and feel free to turn on post notifications so you don’t miss a thing.

2. Share our content. A repost, a shared Reel or a forwarded LinkedIn post reaches people we would otherwise never reach. Posts about recent studies or successful campaigns are particularly well suited to sharing within your own networks.

3. Use our hashtags. Tag your own posts on the topic of climate coverage with #PrimeTimeForClimate, #KlimaVor8 or #MedienKlimaKrise. This helps to bring debates together in one place – and makes it easier for us to find and amplify your voice.

Each and every one of you helps to make our voice heard more clearly. Thank you for being part of this! Let’s continue to grow together.

Follow us on Instagram, LinkedIn and Facebook, and use #PrimeTimeForClimate, #KlimaVor8 and #MedienKlimaKrise.
